POLITO participates to the PIMCity project through the SmartData@PoliTO center, which focuses on Big Data and Data Science. Its members have a long standing track history in participation in European projects (H2020 i-React, MONROE, FP7 mPlane, ONTIC, ECONET, TREND, NAPA-WINE among most recent). They have a strong track of industrial collaborations with large enterprises of different sectors, from financing to communications, from oil extraction to energy services, and specifically with leaders in the cybersecurity and IT sectors, addressing the application of machine learning techniques to on-field data. A particular research focus is on Deep Learning exploitation, together with more transparent classification and prediction techniques, often coupled with other data mining approaches, e.g., clustering and association rule mining, with the aim to develop AI systems able to address industrial challenges and process the large amount of data carried by IT systems as much as possible in automatic fashion).
